Beverleys 360 mile challenge

From the time of the advert in the paper to the end of April Beverley has done  69.6 miles.  This will be updated on a monthly basis.

UPDATE

Completed!!!

As you know local Mary's Meals Community Ambassador, Beverley Soltysiak, looked for a new way to fundraise as it looks unlikely our usual events will be possible and decided to walk 360 miles - the distance from the Mary's Meals head office around to all the Mary's Meals charity shops in Scotland and back. Originally the plan was to do this over 100 days as we were only allowed to walk 1 hour day, but as restrictions became relaxed to 2 walks a day (and to capitalise on the glorious weather!) Beverley doubled her efforts and has completed her challenge over 56 days (49 walking days and on average a rest day a week) and walked an average of 7 miles a day completing on Saturday 13th June.

Our next event is our celebratory tea, planned for the completion of the walking challenge. This has been brought forward to Sunday 5th of July, but of course you can have an afternoon tea over the phone, Zoom, the garden fence, even with a friend in your garden (please just stay within the Covid 19 rules at the time) on any day, you don't have to wait until July 5th - just donate what you would have spent on going to an event !!

The average global cost to feed a child with Mary’s Meals for a whole school year is now just £15.90 and Mary’s Meals is committed to spending at least 93% of donations directly on its charitable activities. We try to raise enough to feed 100 children a year locally and the fund is increasing, thanks to all you generous sponsors and donators around the area.

You can donate on- line to our local fund by visiting marysmeals.org.uk/donate, click on 'start fundraising', then 'search for a friends' and then put in 'Beverley Soltysiak' and this will take you to the '100 Meals Challenge - Year 5' site. Cheques can be sent to Mary's Meals, Craig Lodge, Dalmally, Argyll, PA33 1AR please mention the 100 meal challenge - year 5 so that this will be added to our local total.  Beverley can be contacted via the Kilmun hall website.

Please visit marysmeals.org.uk to find out more about what they are doing during this difficult time to ensure children are stil recieving their daily meal
