Christmas Tree Festival 2019

A very successful Christmas Tree Festival was held at The Younger Hall Kilmun over the first weekend of December 2018 with 18 groups participatingand 140 visitors attending over the whole weekend. Groups along the shore were invited to submit and entry with a Christmas Tree Theme representing their group. We had entertainment from children from Strone School on the Friday afternoon and members of the Dunoon Community Choir sang on Saturday and Sunday. The variety of songs including Christmas tunes added to the atmosphere and got people singing along.

The variety of entries showcased the imagination of group members along the shore. Some had added value as the 100+ books making up the book club tree went on to be sold at the Younger Hall for Hall finds. The angels on the Guild tree were designed to be given to individuals at Invereck on the Guild's next visit and the full tinsin theKirk/Glory Hole tree went to the Foodbank. Both winners [the judges choice being the Shore Sweepers Tree and the people's choice, with more than double the votesbeing Strone Primary School] focused on the environment and recycling.

As a result of the success of the inaugural Christmas Tree Festival we are consudering a further Festival in December this year. If you have an idea for the theme for the 2nd Festival, would like more inforamtion about it, or would like to express an interest in taking part, please contact Arek or Beverley Soltysiak, via the contact page.
